What is Virtual Reality?

Imagine... being able to showcase your resort, hotel, wedding venue, or - my pride and joy - golf courses in full immersive high-definition! More and more people are expecting more from their service providers. More people make decisions based on what they see, not silver words. Picture galleries may not be enough to entice your prospective clients through your door. You need something else, something with that "wow" factor. You've spent a lot of time and money making sure your venue is pristine, now make sure people can SEE that venue without the need to actually go there. Display your show-house on-line without the need for an agent to be present. Allow your golfers to walk the course and plan their game, possibly slicing strokes of their game. Why Virtual Reality - Why not video?

The problem with video is that it takes the observer out of the equation. The observer dos just that - observes. There is no control as to what is being shown, how it is being shown. Virtual reality is a much richer user experience -the observer is more than an observer, but actually participates in creating their own visual experience. With the virtual reality tour, the viewer can choose what to look at, how long to look at, look around, zoom in, zoom out or just sit back and enjoy the vistas.

It has the advantage above video that it can be displayed at full HD at a fraction of the bandwidth costs, and works cross platform in both Flash and HTML5 formats, which means it will work on windows machines, Smart Phones, and, for the first time, on iThings - view the full tour on an iPad! No need to worry about plug-ins, cross-browser compatibility, fancy codecs or other limiting factors that traditional video offers.

Why Use Me?

Virtual reality photography consists of two aspects - firstly, the technical facet that requires a lot of experience and background in coding to optimise to its fullest potential, and secondly, the capacity to make a photograph look good.

You are likely to find people who can drive the technology, but who are not photographers, the esthetical aspect of photography eludes them. Then you get people who can take beautiful photographs, but they cannot operate the technical aspects of 360 photography.

I am lucky enough to be able to offer both. I have enough experience in the technical aspects through many years in development, and I am an award-winning published photographer. Few, if any, people will be able to give you both those aspects in a single package.
