I’ve seen great bird, wildlife, journalistic & landscape photographs in my life. Some great food and macro work. I’ve seen exquisite sea-scapes and dramatic photos of derelict buildings. But in my mind, photography is about people. My raison d’être is people. I enjoy taking the odd landscape as much as anyone, and love taking photos of animals in the wild, but I admit – people and portraiture, fashion and glamour, is what I love doing. This is what makes me get up in the mornings.

I’ve spent 11 years in braces – eleven! You don’t know whether to laugh or cry. But in that 11 years I’ve been teased, laughed at, and been the butt-end of every bad joke. Going to the movies – the geek wears braces, and never gets the girl. The girl with the braces is shunned by the in-crowd who miraculously embraces her the moment she loses her silver smile. This is a personal project of mine to show that braces are beautiful, and you aren’t ugly because of it – in fact, there is something beautifully human in seeing cold hard steel surrounded by soft warm lips. I’m constantly on the lookout for models on this project, so if you qualify – contact me!

One of the great privileges I have is that I get to shoot with two ladies rather regularly – Lizanne and Lucy. These models allow me to play, experiment, hone my skills, and keep my portfolio ticking. I jokingly call these ladies my muses, but truth is, its no joke, they are.

Every year, there is an expo dedicated to the world of photography and film not too far from where I live. in the 2012 expo, I was asked to take some photos for four of the exhibitions. A set designer, a costume hire company, a make-up company and a talent agency all played together, and I was the lucky guy to work with these fabulous people. Thanks to Fatman and Shorty (sets), Creative Avenue (costumes), Talent Etc (most of the faces) and Face and Grace (make-up) for this opportunity.
