– Lizanne –

My wife loves dancing, but I was born with two left feet.  So one day I decided to secretly go for dance lessons, so I could surprise Andrea with some Fred Astaire moves.  It was a disaster.  I’ve got many talents, but “natural rhythm” is not one of them.  However, all was not lost – during a post-dance-lesson drink, I spotted a dance instructor across the hall.

It was a photographer’s version of “love at first sight”.  I just knew I needed to get her in front of my lens.

“Who is that?” I asked the guy next to me.

“That is Lizanne, and you are wasting your time” was his reply.

I decided to chance it anyway – when Lizanne’s lessons were done and she came into the bar area for a drink, I whipped out my card and said “I’m a photographer, and I’d like to photograph you”.

Miracle of miracles, she accepted.  Best chance both of us ever took!

Lizanne and I started working together in March 2009, and we’ve been relying on each other ever since.  We’ve done tons of shoots together, tried ideas, mucked around, and I’m honest if I say that I think I might just owe my entire career to Lizanne.

She’s also one of those disgustingly awesome people!  She is currently doing her PhD in forensic anthropology, she is a top-level dance instructor in modern and ballroom, does ballet, teaches modelling, does a bit of styling, au pairs in the afternoons simply because she loves kids, she’s a scuba diver, sports a few tattoos, has awesome taste in music, and on top of all that, she’s not even a bitch!

Lizanne and I will be working together when we are old and grey – whenever I’m stuck in a rut, Liz gets me out of it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_masonry_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1477205454154-a1077a2d-c4b7-1″ include=”1811,1801,1802,1803,1810,1809,1808,1807,1806,1805,1804″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
