We all hate our ID photos, and for a reason – these are the most unflattering photographs known to man. When you look like your passport photo, it’s time for a holiday! (I don’t look that bad, do I?)
So, when you, the busy professional (or the young, hip upstart who dearly has to look professional!), need to show your face to the world, the last thing you need is to look like you are on the verge of a breakdown!
This is where the job of the corporate photographer comes in – my job is to make you look good! But ‘good’ is such a relative term, because I do not want my stockbroker to look like a pastry chef, and I do not want my pastry chef to look like a dentist… and no, those are not random examples, those are actual clients of mine, and can be found in the gallery below.
In my line of work, I’ve done headshots for yes, stockbrokers, pastry chefs, dentists, authors, musicians, choreographers, actors and actresses, CEOs, and a ton of others. The challenge of the headshot is to get a professional photograph that instils confidence in the eyes of your client. This is not something you want to leave to the amateur. Because of the way I approach the setting, lighting, mood, the feeling I create for a fitness brand ambassador is very different to the way I approach the setting, lighting, mood, and feeling for a paediatric dentist.
When people want to book your services – whether it is from your annual report to your LinkedIn profile, your Facebook page to your magazine editorial – your image matters, your first impression is of utmost importance.
Below is a handful of images of the clients I’ve had the honour of working with in my life.
